Michael Jackson...

No, I am not blogging about the history, life or death of Michael Jackson. I really do not care about all that is going on. But I had a funny story to tell. We had a Time magazine sitting on the couch. And in the top left corner there is a photo of MJ. Samantha said, "Mommy, that man is mean!" We don't watch the news and she has not been told anything about him, so I found it interesting that she said this.

She saw a few more pictures of him and kept saying he was mean and that she didn't want to hear him sing. (He had a microphone in his hand in the picture. Very smart little girl she is.) I thought what a great opportunity for her to learn something.

I explained that he was dead (although, she doesn't know what that is) and that he needed to know Jesus. We need to pray for people to know Jesus. She then told me she did not want MJ to come to our house. I told her he was dead... again. She said, "Mommy, pray he doesn't come to our house." So we prayed that Michael Jackson... although dead... would not come to our house. I love her. And I love these little life lessons we have.

I am ending this post with a video of Samantha at the dinner table. Nothing super big happened, but it makes us giggle because... well, she is just so cute.

Oh, I agree. I love "teaching" moments, and kids can be so perceptive when it comes to things like that. My girls are always pointing out "wrong" things when we are out and about, and I'm then able to talk to them about some of them. It's very hard to shelter kids nowadays, isn't it? Did you ever see that movie, "The Village"? I don't want to spoil it for you if you haven't, but I just thought of it in relation to this.

Anyway, that's very cute that she wanted to pray that MJ wouldn't come to your house. He does look like some kind of horrible, mythical creature in a lot of his pictures. =)
