Prayers of a child

Samantha brings so much joy to my life. And a big part of that joy is hearing her begin to talk about God and pray to him. Even though her mind can not fully comprehend it all, (like today when she asked where is God and is He coming to our house?), I am glad that she is beginning early to talk with him and learn about him. I just wanted to post a couple of sweet prayers and stories that have happened recently.

We were in Sam's club the other day and high on a shelf was a playhouse for children. The following was our conversation.

Sam: "Mommy, I want that house."

Me: "Samantha, we don't have money for that house. It costs a lot."

Sam: Confused look mixed with disappointment

Me: "Samantha, you know what you can do? You can ask God if he will give us some extra money so that maybe we can buy that house."

Samantha: "Oh! I will pray to God and he can give us the money." She dramatically (I mean REALLY dramatically) she clasped her hands together, and right in the cart began to pray. "Dear God, thank you for God. Thank you for the house. Please give me money for the house so I can play in it. AMEN!"

This all was so sweet to me b/c you should have seen how excited she was when she learned we ask God for specific things. Now, with that being said, I did have to explain that God may not give us the money because he doesn't want her to the have the house. (A very difficult concept for children -and adults- to learn.) But we need to be very thankful for all the toys and books he has given us already.

Today, while driving home from church, I had some preaching on the radio. The preacher spoke on God giving money to supply missionaries. Here's what followed:

Sam: "Mommy, he is talking about God. And God is going to give me money to buy the house. He is going to come over to our house and give me money. "

Me: Giggling

Sam:" Dear God, please come to my house and give me money so I can buy the house at the store. I won't put the money in my mouth and swallow it."

Me: More giggling...

Sam:" Mommy, I prayed to Jesus!"

We have been praying for a friend and her daughter. Samantha is sure to remind me EVERY TIME we pray to pray for "Miss Luisa and Diana." She is so sweet.

I could go on and on, but I just really wanted to share how God is so good. I am glad I had loving parents who taught me to pray. I am still learning how to be a good mom, but it brings so much joy to my heart knowing that Samantha is following the right path. I humbly ask the Lord to keep her on that path to someday knowing Christ. I leave you with this: "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God." Philippians 4:6
