Pink

Yesterday was the "big reveal" to what the gender was of the "littlest little." Peter and I were both nervous, not really knowing what to expect. I know parents are supposed to say, "As long as the baby is healthy, that is all that matters..." And of course to a degree, that was very true. But let's be honest here, we really wanted a girl. Why? For different reasons. First, we have 2 already! So no need to buy anything new (besides some diapers...) and no need to get some boy diaper changing practice in, I'm good!
I am sure there is a little "I want to be the king of the castle" feelings going on for Peter too. And why shouldn't he be? Surrounded by girls (and crying, and hormones...) he will be THE man and no one to contend with. :)
So there we were, in the office, awaiting the news. The sonographer did her measurements and all looked well with the baby. Then we saw it... three little lines. It's a girl!
If Peter could look manly doing it, he would have jumped up and down right in that office. But he had to keep it together. But his big, handsome smile said it all... he was relieved and happy. Me too. Honestly, if it was a boy, I would have been thrilled too. I am just thankful that God has blessed us with #3. (Wow, I am going to have 3 kids...)
As far as the rest of the ultrasound goes, we did get some other news. I was told that I had Placenta Previa. Basically, a low lying placenta. This explained why we had such a hard time during the first trimester. It was somewhat of a relief to have an answer for that. I will be having more ultrasounds for sure... which is always a joy... and they will just keep an eye on it. Placenta previa can always correct itself as the baby gets bigger, so we just pray it does. I have an appointment next week with the doc, so we will she what she says then.
All in all, a great day. So glad the baby has ONE head, TWO legs, and... well, 3 lines. :)
