I really wanted to be able to just take a moment and reflect on the last 2 years with Samantha. I think at times, parents can rush through life. Feed, cloth, discipline, teach... but not really stop much and think about all the wonderful things their child brings into their life. So I have decided to make a list of all the great, amazing things that are Samantha.
1. She is so smart. I really can not take credit for it. Yes, we read to her. And teach numbers, but she just has this natural ability to learn fast. For a 2 year old, I know she is much ahead of the game when it comes to her vocabulary and memory. I love hearing what new and exciting thing she will say next.
2. She is affectionate. Samantha really loves to give kisses and hugs. When I start crying, she is my little comforter and cups my face in her hands and says, "What's wrong mommy?" It makes my tears fade and a smile come on my face. She also talks about when Daddy comes home she will be giving him "big big big big daddy hugs and big big big kisses."
3. She is strong willed. Now I know this is not always looked on as a positive thing, but I am glad that Samantha is a thinker. Now, yes, we work on her obeying mommy and there are many times she runs in the opposite direction. But I think when she is older, she is going to not just believe things b/c they are told to her. She is going to ask why, and she has the smarts to figure them out on her own. I think this is crucial in your walk with the Lord.
4. She is beautiful. I look at her and just think, "Wow. We are going to have serious problems one day." I think Peter better get a gun! Haha. (I think she gets her beauty from Aunt Emily. When I look at her, I see you Em.)
5. We waited for Samantha for a long time. And to this day I don't forget that. I am so thankful to the Lord for her. We have 5 babies in heaven now, but we actually get to hold this one in our arms today. And I cherish that. I cherish her.
So Happy Birthday to Samantha. Now let's just pray that the "Terrible Twos" don't get any worse then they are now... b/c we will be in big trouble if they do. Oh, and potty training begins at the end of next week. Oh joy. :-/
