Art 101

We have had a lot of craft time around here lately, and I thought I would post some of what we have done. Nothing too complex. I need to go through my craft book and figure out some more crafts to do. But I came to the realization today... which this should have been obvious much earlier to me... that craft time is a great time to learn skills. Samantha, through all of this, is learning to cut with scissors (a valuable skill :) and she is learning to draw a straight line. She is learning to glue and we are slowly.... very slowly... learning about butterflies and symmetry. That may take a little more time. So here is some art!
We made some flowers together. She didn't cut out the pieces, but did an awesome job at gluing!
Here is the butterfly. I let her pick all the colors and where everything would be glued... hence the symmetry lesson being put on hold for a bit.

We made Peter a pop-up card for when he came home from work. Samantha even signed the inside. I think she said something about beetles.

We made these magnets for the fridge. Very rough looking, but we had fun. Note: Plastic cups are harder to cut then you would think.

And here she is during one craft with her cheesy smile.

Very cute! I'm sure she's enjoying every minute of it all. Yeah, at that age, there is no need to stress perfection...they just don't get it. =)

JULes..I found that I was still on Aprils posts and forgot to scoll down to May!!! Love the crafts you do with Sam and how you are looking at the steps involved as part of her educational processes..l Good job. The magnets on the fridge looked so real or something....like the kids were actually in the flowers.freked me out. love, mom

Great ideas! It's funny that we both had crafts on the brain this week. Eliana's Nana sent a gift card to her for her birthday and we used it to get some craft items. It sure is fun to watch them figure things out and be creative. How did the pasta turn out?
