God Bless America!

We all know that Freedom of Speech is one of the biggest blessings that we carry with us in this country. But with this privilege comes great responsibility. Too many people are taking this freedom for granted or even abusing it. I won't get into a debate over it all. But I will ask this question, do we thank God for our country? Do we thank God for the freedom of speech? For the people who first established these freedoms and that are still fighting for them? I am so thankful for our troops. I am thankful that they are giving up so much... family, time, life... for me, so I can read my Bible. Say my prayers. Teach my children what I want them to learn. I could not be more proud of my husband and those he serves with. On a personal note... a bragging one... Peter is my hero in many ways. He would never raise himself up and want praise. He is a very humble man. But I feel the need to brag.

After 9-11, once war had already begun, my husband made the decision to join the military. In the midst of war, and change within the military, he signed that piece of paper. He was not naive. Nor was he uneducated, which many people would like us to think of the military. These men and women have degrees. Have families. Have stories. And Peter was one of them. He has worked hard hours. Put in much sweat, much energy and yes, tears to serve. He has volunteered to put himself in harms way and to leave the comfort of his home and his family to serve. He knew he needed to go with his fellow troops to do his duty. And I could not more proud of him. I love my Airman. I love my military. And I love my country. I may not agree with all that is done in the U.S.A., but I do know that we have a great people. And a great support in the military.

Wow. Great post Julie! My brother served 9 years in the military and has given me such a better appreciation for our country and military. One thing that I strive to do is when I see a service man in uniform, no matter where I am, I go up to them, shake their hand, and thank them for serving our country. You should see the suprise on their faces too! What a blessing, thank you Peter for your sacrifice and service to our country!!!
